Chapter 14: Good Person Card~The Pure and Kind Prince
Back TOC Next
When Shi Qiu opened his eyes again, he saw the familiar white ceiling of the hospital and felt the familiar IV needle taped to the back of his hand.
He almost thought he had reset himself again.
But Lu Chengyan’s tired face made him realize he hadn’t.
“You’re awake. How are you feeling?” Lu Chengyan asked.
“What happened to me?” Shi Qiu asked, a little dazed.
“You’re weak, sick, and your emotions got the better of you. You passed out,” Lu Chengyan sighed.
Shi Qiu’s eyes went wide. He wanted to say, who’s weak? Who can keep up with you coming at me five times in one night?
At that moment, the voice of 09 sounded in his mind. Host, do you remember less than half a month ago you lost a lot of blood from your wrist injury and now, just a couple days after the stitches were removed, you’re drinking and overindulging again. We need to cherish life.
So Shi Qiu quietly kept his mouth shut.
“It’s my fault,” Lu Chengyan sighed again, stroking Shi Qiu’s hair. “I forgot you weren’t well.”
Shi Qiu felt frustrated and thought bitterly inside, Lu Chengyan gets to overdo it even more than me, how come he’s not weak?
“That was his first time breaking the no-meat rule; he’s been holding back a lot. He’ll be normal later,” 09 comforted him.
Shi Qiu gave up complaining. Although he still felt weak, at least the fever had broken and he felt better than when he woke up this morning.
Lu Chengyan fed him some porridge, then asked, “With your health like this, do you want to go home? Or stay in the hospital a couple more days? I’ve already told the staff not to mention anything.”
Shi Qiu hesitated. There was no way he could go home now. Quietly, he said, “I’ll stay in the hospital for a couple more days then.”
He couldn’t explain to Jiang Fengmian how a simple dinner with the crew had turned into this.
Shi Qiu slowly took out his phone and called Jiang Fengmian.
“Hey, gege?”
Jiang Fengmian’s voice was a little hoarse, and he sounded confused. “Shi Qiu?”
“Gege,” Shi Qiu lowered his head, fiddling with the railing of the hospital bed. “I think I caught a cold, and I don’t want to infect you, so I won’t come home yet.”
“That won’t do. If you don’t come home, where will you stay?” Jiang Fengmian obviously didn’t agree.
“I’ll stay with Mr. Lu for now. He’s very kind and takes good care of me,” Shi Qiu whined, acting cute. “Gege, you’re about to start filming soon. You can’t get sick. What if I get you sick?”
It was a practical question. Seeing Shi Qiu’s insistence, Jiang Fengmian stopped arguing and asked, “Is Lu Chengyan with you?”
“Yes.”
“Then hand the phone to him,” Jiang Fengmian said.
“Okay.” Shi Qiu put the phone on speaker on the small table and glanced at Lu Chengyan.
Lu Chengyan awkwardly sat in the chair and said, “It’s me.”
Jiang Fengmian’s voice came through. Sorry to trouble you, Shi Qiu might need you to take care of him a couple more days.
“No trouble at all. It’s my responsibility. I didn’t take good care of him, so he got sick,” Lu Chengyan rubbed his nose and spoke quietly.
After sending Shi Qiu to the hospital, Lu Chengyan had to explain to the doctor how Shi Qiu had fainted. That was the most tormenting moment of his life. Although the doctor looked experienced and kept smiling, Lu Chengyan still didn’t dare to think about it now.
“If he causes any trouble, call me. I’ll come get him. Don’t hold a grudge against Shi Qiu; he’s still young and naive,” Jiang Fengmian said.
“Mm,” Lu Chengyan replied vaguely.
Jiang Fengmian gave Shi Qiu a few more reminders and then hung up.
Lu Chengyan and Shi Qiu sat facing each other quietly.
“No matter what,” Shi Qiu looked down at his left wrist without its protective brace, the ugly scar exposed clearly in the air, “Gege absolutely, absolutely must not find out.”
“Mm.” No need to say more; Lu Chengyan already understood Shi Qiu had mistaken him for someone else last night. He didn’t have any other thoughts. After all, it was his fault for giving Shi Qiu the wrong drink. Even if Shi Qiu was mistaken, he couldn’t blame him. Lu Chengyan had been clearer-headed, and it was he who pushed Shi Qiu on.
No matter what, doing the kind of thing that ends with someone being hospitalized was normally beyond the realm of even most spoiled rich kids. Lu Chengyan’s morals had just taken the hardest hit of his life.
“Then let’s just pretend it never happened, okay?” Shi Qiu carefully watched Lu Chengyan’s expression and asked.
“Mm.” Lu Chengyan nodded.
His face gave nothing away, neither pleased nor displeased.
“What compensation do you want then?” Lu Chengyan asked again.
Shi Qiu shook his head softly. “I don’t know.”
Lu Chengyan was already letting him off so cleanly that it was all good. Who would dare ask for anything else?
“If anything happens in the future, you can come to me,” Lu Chengyan added, not pressing him to decide now.
“Okay.”
Shi Qiu genuinely felt Lu Chengyan was a good person now. Except for being a little ruthless in bed, everything else was great. This was a promise from Lu Chengyan, a super tool to save everything when all else fails. He’d lived for many years, even won a Best Actor award in a past life, but never met such a pure and kind prince.
Though the price was his poor kidneys.
If Lu Chengyan hadn’t pushed so hard so many times, he’d actually be pretty good in bed. It really did feel good.
Shi Qiu stayed in the luxurious hospital room with this pure and kind prince for two days, taking herbal medicine every meal. The ingredients were all solid and nourishing. He felt like his face was glowing red from the recovery.
“Going back now?” Lu Chengyan asked, watching Shi Qiu pack up.
“My gege is filming now, I have to keep an eye on him.” Shi Qiu packed his clothes and things into a bag. Everything was bought by Lu Chengyan’s assistant and pricey. If Shi Qiu didn’t take it, Lu Chengyan would probably just toss it. Better to bring it than waste it.
He wore the white down jacket again, his lean figure wrapped in it, looking round and cute.
“Thank you, Mr. Lu, for taking care of me these two days. You’re really a good person.” Shi Qiu blinked his bright eyes and sincerely said.
Though he went wild before, Shi Qiu had no marks on him. It was Lu Chengyan’s kidneys that took the beating. As long as Shi Qiu kept quiet, no one would know he had been out partying. Lu Chengyan, on the other hand, had bite marks and scratch marks all over, making him an eyesore.
Lu Chengyan silently accepted the “good person card.” Two nights ago they’d used half a box of condoms. Today Shi Qiu was handing him a good person card with an innocent face.
Lu Chengyan was speechless but thought Shi Qiu was just too easy to fool. He put him in the hospital and stayed with him for two days. That was enough to earn a good person card. If he met someone less honest, he’d be completely played.
“Then I’m off.”
“Mm.”
After dropping off his things at home, Lu Chengyan’s driver took Shi Qiu straight to the film studio.
Shi Qiu got out and went to find Jiang Fengmian, who was preparing to shoot his makeup photos.
Places like this all looked about the same. Wearing his down jacket and mask, Shi Qiu quickly found the makeup room where Jiang Fengmian was getting his makeup done. The white-haired ball just squeezed in.
“Gege.” Shi Qiu happily came closer.
Jiang Fengmian glanced at him, noting his good spirit, and smiled. “Feeling better from your cold?”
“Better.” Shi Qiu sat in the nearby chair and watched him get made up. “Gege, did the director say when filming officially starts?”
“He said, first the makeup photos and trailer, then they start shooting immediately.” Jiang Fengmian said.
The crew had no money. The investors were basically trying their luck, and the main people in charge didn’t want to drag it out either.
“You could actually stay and play a few more days at Lu Chengyan’s place. Coming here now is just watching me do makeup and change clothes for photos. It’s kinda boring.” Jiang Fengmian smiled.
“How could that be boring…” Shi Qiu was about to tell Jiang Fengmian how loyal he was when a message from Zhong Xiyuan came through.
The parents’ impressive student council president said, “Come to my office.”
He added, “I have something important to tell you.”
Shi Qiu wanted to ask what was so important but then got another message.
The parents’ impressive student council president said, “It’s related to Jiang Fengmian.”
Well, now Shi Qiu had no choice but to go.
