Chapter 13: Gege, Why Is the Bed Moving?
Back TOC Next
Shi Qiu absentmindedly gave the thing in his hand a squeeze. Huh… it was surprisingly firm.
Then he heard the sharp intake of breath from the man in front of him and finally realized exactly what he was touching. Before he could pull his hand away, Lu Chengyan caught his chin and kissed him.
His kissing was a little unpolished, but the way their tongues tangled felt far too good, like the burning heat flooding through him was melting away in that single motion. Shi Qiu struggled for only a moment before his head went hazy; his left arm wrapped around Lu Chengyan’s neck to deepen the kiss, while his right hand skillfully undid the buttons on Lu’s shirt, sliding down the ridges of muscle along his back, exploring lower.
“Gege…” Shi Qiu murmured between kisses, his voice muffled and sweet.
Lu Chengyan paused for a beat, then pressed him down onto the bed.
Shi Qiu’s head spun. His dark eyes shimmered with moisture as he lay there, looking up at Lu Chengyan with a hint of grievance, only for Lu to lower himself again, kissing him in a slow, coaxing way.
As he kissed, Lu’s hand fumbled toward the nightstand. This room’s amenities were impressively well-stocked.
“Gege… gege…”
Reality turned out to be even smoother than expected. After feeding Shi Qiu two oranges, the feverish heat in his body finally began to ebb, and his head cleared a little.
And then he remembered it was Lu Chengyan who had fed him those oranges. Lounging lazily against the pillow, he cleared his throat and said, “Lu Chengyan…”
“What, not calling me gege anymore?” Lu’s fingers pressed against Shi Qiu’s kiss-swollen lips, rubbing them lightly. In the warm amber light, his gaze was deep, like a wolf still on the hunt.
Shi Qiu suddenly felt danger prickling up his spine. Before the third orange could be served, he quickly tried to appease him, trailing his soft tongue over Lu’s fingers. “Gege, how about… we stop after one more orange, okay?”
“No.” Lu withdrew his fingers, bending down to capture his tongue again. “Make it two more. If you’re too tired, just lie still and be good.”
Shi Qiu thought, This isn’t about being tired, it’s about whether my kidneys can survive this.
But whether or not they could, Lu still firmly fed him two more oranges.
By the end, Shi Qiu’s eyes were starting to glaze over. Lu finally sat up, grabbed tissues from the nightstand, and turned back to clean him up.
Shi Qiu let out a breath of relief, already drifting toward sleep.
“Don’t sleep yet.” Lu bit his ear lightly. “Guess what I just discovered?”
His voice was steady and polite, the same as when they had first met, that deceptively gentlemanly manner.
“…What?” Shi Qiu had a bad feeling.
“I found a switch. This bed moves.” Lu pried his fingers open one by one, lacing their hands together. “Seems interesting. Let’s test it out.”
Shi Qiu’s eyes went wide in horror. Lu Chengyan, are you still human? Are your kidneys made of steel?!
But he didn’t dare provoke him at this point. “Gege, I really can’t…”
“Can’t?” Lu glanced down at Little Shi Qiu.
“Mhm…” Shi Qiu gazed up at him with an expression of pure sincerity, looping his arms around Lu’s neck to kiss him softly. “Good gege, let’s save it for next time, okay?”
His voice was so soft and sweet it melted into the air. Lu pressed him back into the pillows, kissed him for a while, then looked down at the utterly still Little Shi Qiu, thoughtful for a moment.
Just as Shi Qiu thought they were finally done, Lu suddenly moved downward.
“Lu Chengyan!” Shi Qiu yelped, grabbing at his hair, but he couldn’t stop him.
Lu was meticulous in everything he did, thorough in cleaning, and apparently with no mental barrier to this either. Though it was clearly his first time, with little technique to speak of, the mental shock alone was enough to make Shi Qiu hard even faster than last time.
Lu lifted his head, genuinely surprised, then broke into a smile. “Looks like little brother’s still doing just fine.”
Shi Qiu promptly burst into tears.
Lu climbed back up, coaxing him gently while flipping the bed’s switch. “See? I wasn’t lying. The bed really does move.”
Shi Qiu sobbed and cursed him, no longer calling him gege, even biting him at random. Lu didn’t get angry, he simply held his head to his chest and let him bite as he pleased.
Shi Qiu cried into his pecs, watching the ceiling sway above, thinking in a daze, damn it, the bed really is moving…
This time, Lu truly let him off. But Shi Qiu had no strength left to fuss and fell asleep instantly.
Lu cleaned them both up, then carried Shi Qiu to the clean bed beside them, tucking him in before finally sleeping himself.
The next morning, it wasn’t his body clock that woke Lu, it was the heat radiating from his arms.
Opening his eyes, he looked down to see Shi Qiu’s face flushed bright red. Fever.
It was like holding a human furnace.
Lu got up slowly. He had overindulged the night before, and even he wasn’t feeling great now. Fetching the first aid kit, he boiled water and prepared fever medicine.
Shi Qiu, half-conscious, felt something cool pressed to his forehead and sighed in relief.
“Shi Qiu, wake up. Take your medicine.” Lu stuck on a fever patch, propped him up, and held the now-lukewarm drink to his lips.
By now, Shi Qiu’s body clock was rousing him, but he was exhausted to the bone, too weak to even lift his arms.
Lu fed him the medicine, and the warm liquid in his stomach made him feel a little better.
But then his brain finally caught up to a horrifying fact. Last night, Lu Chengyan had carried him off in plain view of everyone, and the two of them had gone so far they had lost all sense of heaven and earth.
It’s over. My whole image is ruined. How am I supposed to keep pining for Jiang Fengmian now?
Shi Qiu grabbed Lu’s hand after finishing the medicine. “Lu Chengyan… can we not let anyone know what happened last night?”
Lu’s relaxed expression froze. “…What do you mean?”
Now fully sober, Lu also remembered Shi Qiu’s initial reaction last night, like he had mistaken him for someone else.
“What do you mean, Shi Qiu?” Lu’s voice tightened. He had ignored it in the moment, but thinking back, Shi Qiu had never called him gege before. Those sweet, sticky “geges”… who exactly were they meant for?
Shi Qiu saw his frown and suddenly remembered. This was Lu Chengyan, not some random nobody, but the head of the powerful Lu family, a man who could crush both him and Jiang Fengmian with a single word. Just because he had been polite and mild-mannered didn’t mean he was a harmless cat. Tigers don’t show their claws every day, but that doesn’t make them any less dangerous.
Lu watched as the color drained from Shi Qiu’s delicate face.
“I’m sorry…” Shi Qiu’s eyes reddened, tears quickly welling until he looked heartbreakingly pitiful. “It’s all my fault. Please don’t be mad…”
Lu’s frown deepened. He handed him a tissue, keeping his tone gentle. “I’m not angry. Don’t cry. I just want to make things clear. If you think last night was just an accident, we can pretend it never happened. I’ll give you whatever compensation I can.”
It seemed like every time they met, he ended up wiping Shi Qiu’s tears.
Head lowered, Shi Qiu cried quietly. Hearing Lu speak so reasonably, he felt a wave of relief. So his good reputation wasn’t undeserved. He was a decent man after all. With the way he had tried to sit him into the mattress last night, Shi Qiu had honestly thought he would never be let off so easily.
Then a crushing wave of exhaustion swept over him, and his vision went black.
Lu had been about to wait for him to calm down so they could talk, but suddenly, Shi Qiu went limp and silent in the blankets.
“Shi Qiu?” Lu quickly pulled him into his arms.
