๐Ÿ’ Chapter 45: Final Chapter – Shen Shuyi Voluntarily Walked into His…

By the time they reached downstairs, Xie Chenzhou had put on an apron and was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for Shen Yuechu and Shen Shuyi. Meanwhile, Chu Chu found the small backpack he had thrown in the living room last night, planning to pack it first thing this morning.

The nanny had already brought him his little water cup, a bear-shaped bandage, and his Thomas the Tank Engine toy. Chu Chu packed each item carefully into his backpack.

Hmm… what else should I bring?

He ran to the kitchen doorway and called out to Daddy. “Daddy, what else do I need to bring to kindergarten?”

Xie Chenzhou placed the cheese cake base into the oven and was frying dumplings for Shen Shuyi, each neatly arranged in the pan. He had prepared these dumplings the day before and stored them in the fridge. Shen Shuyi liked vegetable and corn filling, but since fresh vegetables were hard to import to Country A, Xie Chenzhou had asked Zhao Jian to bring seeds from home. After 21 days of hydroponics, fresh and tender vegetables had grown.

All this effort was just to make a pan of dumplings for Shen Shuyi.

Xie Chenzhou focused on frying the dumplings to a golden brown, added water mixed with starch, covered the pan, and in a short time, a beautiful batch was ready.

Chu Chu watched him from the doorway, fascinated by the serious expression on Daddy’s face. This was the look he only got when Daddy was doing something for him.

Hearing Chu Chu calling again, Xie Chenzhou set aside the kitchen timer and asked, “Did you bring wet wipes?”

Chu Chu had forgotten. His dad had told him that he always got his hands dirty while playing, and if they weren’t cleaned in time, his stomach might hurt after meals.

Chu Chu went to the nanny to get the wipes, but after a while, he returned. “Daddy, anything else?”

The dumplings weren’t ready yet. Xie Chenzhou asked, “Did you bring your crayons?”

Chu Chu had bought new crayons a few days ago to give to his new friends at kindergarten, but he couldn’t find them. The nanny didn’t know either, since she hadn’t put them away.

After searching for a while and feeling discouraged, Chu Chu asked, “Daddy, can you help me pack my bag?”

“I’m cooking,” Xie Chenzhou said. The dumplings were almost done.

Chu Chu looked disappointed. Daddy focused so seriously when doing things for others that he never left his post, but Chu Chu really wanted his help.

Hearing Chu Chu cry, Shen Shuyi came downstairs after washing his face halfway. “Ah, who is crying so early this morning?”

“Daddy… I wanted Daddy to help me pack my bag,” Chu Chu sniffled, reaching out his small hands.

Shen Shuyi picked him up and looked at the backpack on the sofa. “You’ve already done well. You packed so much, it’s heavy as a turtle shell.”

“I’m not a turtle!” Chu Chu pouted.

Shen Shuyi wiped his nose. “You don’t need all this. You’ll just be playing with your friends anyway.”

Chu Chu held his small hands and said, “I wanted to get along with my friends. Daddy helped me buy crayons, I just don’t know where they went.”

His appearance mostly resembled Shen Shuyi, with big eyes, a small face, and chubby cheeks. But his eyes were dark like Xie Chenzhou’s, giving him a focused look.

Shen Shuyi went to the kitchen with him and asked, “Daddy, where are the crayons?”

Xie Chenzhou had just finished frying the dumplings. He went to the TV cabinet, opened it, and took out the missing crayons. “Are these them?”

Chu Chu’s eyes lit up but he was still pouting. “Hmph!” He turned his face away.

Xie Chenzhou packed the crayons into the backpack and organized the other items neatly, taking out the Thomas toy since Chu Chu wouldn’t be using it at kindergarten.

With the bag ready, Shen Shuyi quickly finished washing up to avoid being late. He placed Chu Chu in the high chair at the table.

Xie Chenzhou brought out breakfast and focused on Chu Chu, helping him with the bib, bowl, and soft spoon.

Shen Shuyi watched him carefully. He knew Chu Chu sometimes felt that Xie Chenzhou’s attention was more on him than on his child, but he also knew Xie Chenzhou was doing everything he could.

They finished breakfast and Xie Chenzhou drove Chu Chu to kindergarten, then Shen Shuyi to class. Chu Chu sat in the back seat, excited by the passing scenery.

“Daddy, will we really go back home after kindergarten?” Chu Chu asked.

Shen Shuyi explained that Daddy and Xie Chenzhou were still in Country A for work and treatment, and that he would accompany Chu Chu for now.

He reassured him that Xie Chenzhou’s condition was improving. Chu Chu listened, still a little sulky about earlier, but his excitement returned when Shen Shuyi mentioned a panda plushie waiting for him.

When Chu Chu entered the kindergarten, he quickly adapted and played happily with the other children, forgetting his earlier frustrations.

After dropping him off, Shen Shuyi sat back in the passenger seat. “Do you feel tired with Chu Chu around?”

Xie Chenzhou paused, considering.

Shen Shuyi continued, “If it’s too much, we can send him home and just the two of us stay here. But if we keep him, we’ll adapt gradually.”

Xie Chenzhou looked at his hands on the wheel. Shen Shuyi extended his own wrists, suggesting trust and willingness to surrender, a gesture Xie Chenzhou recognized.

He remembered childhood memories at the orphanage, when three-year-old Shen Shuyi had defended him, telling him he was not a monster.

Shen Shuyi had woven a network long ago, waiting for Xie Chenzhou to willingly walk into it as an adult.

After finishing his residency, Shen Shuyi and Xie Chenzhou returned home together.

As soon as they landed, Shen Shuyi received a video call from Chu Chu. Chu Chu asked eagerly if Daddy and Xie Chenzhou were there. Shen Shuyi smiled, seeing Xie Chenzhou approaching, and said, “Let’s go. Chu Chu is waiting.”

Xie Chenzhou nodded softly.

It was time for the family to be together.

I HAVE FINALLY POSTED THE EXTAS. CONSIDER THIS MY MERRY CHRISTMAS GIFT TO YOU GUYS ❤๐ŸŽ

Back                           TOC                            Next

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah ๐Ÿ˜ซ Guys, that’s the end of the main novel! Who’s sad with me? I seriously don’t know what to do. I got so attached to this cute little family, and to all of you my readers who’ve been with me from the very first chapter to the last one. ❤

This novel actually has 5 extra chapters, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to translate them. I need to buy them first, and your little translator here is too poor to do that right now ๐Ÿ˜…… so you might have to wait a while.

Once I finish translating the extras, I’ll start translating another novel. I haven’t decided which one yet, so if you have any recommendations of novels you want me to do or you want me to pick up, just leave them in the comments for me ๐Ÿค—

Anyway, thank you again for staying with me throughout this journey. ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’
